Panama Canal Cruise Day 12
Day 12 was another fun sea day. This sea day was a little bit different from some of the other sea days, though, because it was the 80’s throwback day. So throughout the day, they would do activities that were often done on cruises back in the ’80s. Some activities include frog races in the pool, knobby knees challenge, a family relay race, a throwback menu for the formal dinner, and of course, a midnight gala buffet. A lot of these activities are fun to participate in and/or watch from the side. On the previous Carnival Journey cruise we did, we participated in more of the activities. Mixologist Class at the Alchemy Bar
During the day, we spent most of our time around the pool just watching the poolside activities. In the afternoon, we had a class at the Alchemy Bar to learn a bit about how to craft the drinks they make at the bar. I had done that class before and always found it to be a lot of fun. Plus, we got to enjoy a few mini martinis in the class. Of course, we had to be careful during the class so as not to be punished with the potent strawberries/pineapples that they use when infusing vodka. But I think some people wanted to get punished. Here is a photo of our bartender for the class.

Midnight Gala Buffet
Dinner can always be fun on this night because people dress up in either really formal attire or their best 80’s attire. The food was, as usual, delicious and well presented. The menu, however, looks a bit different than the other nights as they go back to the 80’s style menu. That evening they also hold an 80’s throwback deck party, which usually draws a large crowd. And of course, we can’t forget about the Midnight Gala Buffet, where the chefs carve up the food for a display. They let people go through and take photos before they start serving the food. See what some of them below.
