Panama Canal Cruise Day 11
Day 11 was another beautiful port of call at Cartagena, Colombia. I honestly set my expectations really low about this port. I mean Colombia is known as a drug place, right? Well, thank goodness my expectations were completely wrong! As the skyline revealed itself to us on the way into the port, I started to realize this would be a much better place than expected. The huge skyline was a bit of a shock to me, but it was a beautiful sight. See for yourself in this photo.

We had a surprise ship in the port
The port schedule showed two cruise ships for the day, but when we pulled into port, there was another ship that I did not expect to be there. This ship is called The World and is a unique ship. Even though this ship looks like a cruise ship, it is actually the world’s largest privately-owned residential yacht. It is a stunning ship that I can only imagine what life would be like onboard. Apparently, the residents vote on the ports they will visit for the next year. I was not able to get a photo to capture the entire ship, but you can see a portion of the ship in this photo. Check out more about this ship here!

Taking a tour around the city
We decided to book an excursion for this port. The excursion we booked was a hop on hop off bus city tour. We saw some of the beautiful sights from the old part of the city during a short walking tour. Some of the highlights of the walking tour were going inside a church, seeing an interesting giant naked lady statue, watching a street artist paint beautiful paintings with his hands, going into the Museo del Oro Zenú, and a couple of stores for shopping. After the walking tour, we hopped back on the bus to finish the city tour. We decided not to get off anywhere else, but we still saw some beautiful sights, including the new city and the Castilo de San Felipe de Barajas.
